A public (private) school in the Isle of Man, named after King William IV (POB connections galore, Stephen's patient, Hanson's father, naval officer etc. etc.) sets an annual quiz requiring a great deal of esoteric knowledge (POB content).

 As Yet Unsolved!
There's no mention of Jack in that comic song .....
Gary Brown

Must be missing something here ........ Jack Donahue was an Irish-born Australian Bushranger killed by a police marksman in the early 1830s. He's trannsmuted into Jack Duggan in the famous song "The Wild Colonial Boy", a poem set to music by Percy French (and sung by Mick Jagger in the old movie Ned Kelly). Donahue was shot by Private John Muckleston - but I can find out nothing about Muckleston apart from his name, and that he was on attachment from the 57th Regiment of foot. As I say, I'm missing something obvious here.....
Gary Brown
 Ballinaddy
From the eponymous poem, according to the official answers.....
Gary Brown

And the Aussie Jack Donahue was a real red herring. In the poem, he's merely a local victim of a tawdry fight (though the man who killed him "got away with murder", being conviced for "accidental" manslaughter as nobody knew that he had a real, dark, lovelorn motive to kill Jack)
